We know the world has a tremendous effect upon the church. Although we, the church, live in the world, we should not live according to the world (John 17:11ff). We should influence the world rather than the world influencing us. Paul warned of evil companionship which corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). However, Satan continually hurls his fiery darts at us (Ephesians 6:16), and many in the church are falling because they have not raised up the “shield of faith.”

One way in which Satan hurls his fiery darts at us is through evolution. Evolution denies the power of God and the inspiration of the Bible which are the basis of our faith. Evolution is constantly bombarding each of us. It bombards our young people through so-called science books in the public schools, and it bombards adults. This evil bombardment is through television programs such as science/nature and entertainment telecasts; and it is through natural attractions in the government’s parks and recreation areas such as claim that the Grand Canyon is billions of years old.

Fellow Christians, we need to be aware of these bombardments! We as Christians must encourage and give evidence to each other of God’s creative acts for if we deny Genesis 1 & 2, it is only logical that we deny the Bible as a whole. “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is” (Exodus 20:11).
